Five Do's and Don'ts of Thanksgiving Etiquette

November 27, 2019

Receiving an invite for Thanksgiving dinner is always a highlight of the holiday season. Spending time with friends and family, sharing stories, and showing gratitude. BUT, what if you aren't sure how to be a good guest?! Have no worries, Molly and Pirate are here to show you the Five Do's and Don'ts of Thanksgiving etiquette!

Do!

1). Turn off all those nosy distraction and enjoy some quality time with your favorite humans and furry friends alike.

2). Offer to bring a dish! While your hosts may politely decline, it's always nice to offer up something tasty - nothing says happy holidays like something you made yourself.

3). Proper cutlery is key! It's easy, work your way from the outside in.

4). Keep the the conversation flowing (and polite).

5). Be a good sport and offer to help with the clean up. Remember, someone just spent all day preparing that meal for you - the last thing they want to do is clean it all up on their own.

Don't!

1). Don't have your nose buried in that phone of yours - there will be time for that later. For now, enjoy the delicious food, great company, and maybe a classic movie with friends and family.

2). Don't forget to ask about any dietary restriction - unfortunately, not everyone can eat that cranberry sauce.

3). We know you may want to, but it's probably a good idea not to eat directly off the plate. Not everyone will think it's cute.

4). Don't bring up politics...trust us, you'll regret it.

5). And lastly, don't do...whatever it is Pirate might be doing.

There you have it! Everything you need to know to have a wonderful holiday. From all of us at Grounds & Hounds - Happy Thanksgiving!
