From a Chemex, to French press to the standard drip machine, welcome to our new series, “How to Brew” where our in-house brewing expert Nick Villalon will teach you everything you need to know about how to make one delicious cup of Grounds & Hounds coffee. Today, Nick is going to show you how to tackle brewing the perfect Chemex.
The Chemex is a terrific way to start your morning off right – it’s simple, easy and only takes a few steps. All you need is your Chemex, a parchment filter, medium ground coffee (sea salt consistency), and heated water (200-degree Fahrenheit).
What you want to do first is wet the parchment paper before adding your coffee grounds. A good rule of thumb is two tablespoons for every six ounces. Once you take the water off the stove, let it sit for about 30-45 seconds before pouring. Once you begin pouring, focus on the outer cone first and work your way towards the center.
While you wait, feel free to give your pup a few belly rubs or play a couple rounds of fetch with one of our Grounds & Hounds plush toys
Your coffee is ready once it has ceased to drip from the parchment filter. Before I toss it, I like to give the paper a little squeeze, so I don’t let any coffee go to waste. What’s great about the Chemex is that it not only gives you a cleaner cup of coffee but is perfect for entertaining friends & family. We hope this how-to on how to brew the perfect Chemex inspires you to give it a try! Visit our store for all your Chemex needs!
See you next time on “How to Brew”!
Every year on August 1st we celebrate Dogust! Dogust is a dedicated day where we celebrate all Rescue dog's birthdays. Many rescue owners don't know the exact birthday of their pups, and Dogust is a special day to send love to all rescues (those who are awaiting adoption and those who have found their forever homes). We stopped by Wags n Walks for the festivities, and there's nothing better than seeing the joy on the dog's faces as we helped them to celebrate!
