How to Brew: The Perfect AeroPress

While there are a dozen ways to make a cup of coffee using an AeroPress (available in our online shop!), we recommend this method. It’s fast, easy, and the coffee is unbeatable.

Step 1

While your water is boiling, grind up your coffee beans – think table salt consistency. We recommend our Good Boy blend for this method, but any of our blends make a great cup.

Step 2

Once your water is heated, take it off the stove and allow it to cool to about 190 degrees.

Step 3

There are three main components to an AeroPress – the plunger, the brewing chamber, and the filter cap. First, grab a filter and place it in the filter cap, be sure to wet the filter once in the cap. Next, screw the cap into the brewing chamber.

Step 4

Place the cap and brewing chamber onto the top of your cup. What’s great about the AeroPress is that it comes with a funnel which allows you to keep the kitchen counter clean as your pour in your ground coffee.

Step 5

Remove the funnel and pour in your cooled water. Give it a little stir.

Step 6

Place your plunger onto of the brewing chamber, but do NOT plunge yet – you’ll want it to steep for about a minute and a half.

Step 7

Begin to plunge, you don’t need to go as slow as a French Press, but you don’t want to rush it either.

Step 8

Time to clean. This is one of the best features of the AeroPress. To clean, simply remove the AeroPress filter basket over a garbage can, push the plunger all the way down, and the spent grounds will be discarded into your compost or garbage can!
