Nothing quite says “the holidays” like a chocolate, peppermint sticks, and a warm mug. Our homemade Peppermint Mocha will give you nostalgic feelings after every warm sip without ever having to change out of your pj's. We hope you can slow down and enjoy the perfect sip while sitting fireside with Christmas tunes in the air.
2 cups of our Alpha Blend coffee
1/2 cup 2% reduced-fat milk, divided
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1 ounce 60% bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
1 to 2 drops peppermint oil
Crushed peppermint sticks
To begin, combine your fresh brewed coffee and 1/4 cup milk in a small saucepan over low heat. Then add sugar, cocoa, and chocolate to pan and cook over low heat for about 4 minutes or until chocolate melts, stirring frequently. (Do not simmer.) Quickly stir in peppermint oil. Divide your coffee mixture among your two favorite coffee mugs.
Now is a good time to quickly compliment your pup how dapper he looks in that holiday sweater.
Next, place the remaining 1/4 cup of milk in a microwave-safe 1-cup container with a lid. Shake vigorously for one minute or until milk is frothy and has doubled in volume. Remove the lid and microwave milk at HIGH for 30 seconds. Top each coffee cup with a dollop of milk froth. Divide any remaining hot milk evenly among the mugs. Finally garnish each cup with crushed peppermint sticks (finally a use for those candy canes hanging on your tree)!
Take a sip and give your pup his well-earned treat.
