The Coffee Lover’s Earth Day Guide
Reuse your grounds!
After brewing, be sure to put your used coffee grounds to work. A bowl of dry grounds can be used as a refrigerator deodorizer, garden fertilizer, or even an insect repellant! This is just the beginning of the incredible second life for used coffee grounds. If you’re interested, a quick Google search will provide you with every use imaginable!
Minimize brewing electricity and materials!
Try to cut out all of the unnecessary, garbage destined, materials in your brewing routine. The French Press is often recognized as the hot brewing method with the lowest impact (and it makes a delicious cup!). To take it one step further, eliminate electricity use all together and make your own cold brew! If you need a few suggestions for perfecting the French Press,
Opt for the mug
And when you’re done brewing, break out your favorite reusable mug. By skipping the styrofoam and paper cup each morning, we can chip away at the 50 billion cups discarded every year!
Choose Organic
Conventional coffee is one of the most highly pesticide treated foods grown throughout the world. These chemical treatments are not only dangerous for the wildlife and fauna in coffee growing regions, but the workers and local community can also feel the impact of these treatments.
