It's estimated that there are around 10,000 puppy mills in the United States. These are large commercial breeding operations where the health of the breeding dogs is placed second behind profit. Dogs are often kept in cramped conditions, and bred on every heat cycle, with little regard for their physical and emotional wellbeing.
But our latest Rescue Roast partner is working to make things better. At National Mill Dog Rescue, they work to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home breeding dogs. Additionally, they work to educate the public about commercial breeding operations and how they can mistreat animals – attacking the problem at the source.
Since their founding in 2007, National Mill Dog Rescue has rescued almost 16,000 breeding dogs and they continue to save 1,100 per year, of which many will require extensive veterinary care.
Grounds & Hounds is extremely proud to support the efforts of National Mill Dog Rescue. Through May 31st, 100% of the profits from Rescue Roast will benefit National Mill Dog Rescue, which will help this incredible group rescue more commercial breeding dogs and provide them with comprehensive veterinary and rehabilitative care they need as they make their way to loving homes.
We hope you'll grab a bag of Rescue Roast and join us in working to provide life and family these amazing pups deserve!
