Can you believe that it's already October? The good news is that October 1st means that it's officially the start of National Rescue Month! To get the month started, we want to share a few easy ways you can help pups during National Rescue month, (and hopefully the other 11 months each year!)
1). Volunteer! If you would like to roll up your sleeves and become a true hero to animals waiting for a forever home, we recommend volunteering with your local rescue organization. Whether you can dedicate your whole weekend to caring for animals, or only have 2 hours to walk pups, your effort will be greatly appreciated!
2). Drop off toys and supplies! Animal shelters are always in need of supplies and materials for daily operations and for the betterment of their current residents. If you have spare blankets, cleaning supplies, dog toys, or unopened food, your local shelter can surely put it to good use! But before dropping off, be sure to call the shelter first to ensure they can accept the items!
3). Consider fostering! Though we may have aspirations to one day have three times as many dogs in the house as humans, our professional schedules and personal situations do not always make dog ownership possible. Rather than push aside your dream, you can still share your home with a pup in need through fostering. By fostering, your helping to ensure a pup has a second chance
4). ADOPT! This one is pretty straight forward. If you are considering adding a dog to your home, please choose to adopt from a rescue shelter or foster organization. Far too many amazing dogs never have a chance at happiness due to shelter overcrowding, so we hope that you're search for a furry sidekick begins and ends with your local rescue groups.
5). Spread the word! You may not be able to add a rescue pup to your house right now, but we all know someone who is looking to add a four-legged pal to their family. While they may have their sights set on a specific breed, be sure to remind them how many amazing, grateful pups are waiting for a new best friend at the local shelter. In fact, 1 in 5 dogs that enter the shelter system are pure breed pups, so your friend may find the pup of his or her dreams while providing a second chance to a grateful rescue dog.
Have that second cup of coffee! At Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. we care deeply about two things; helping rescue pups and making great coffee. We believe that great coffee can fuel a great purpose, which is why 20% of our profits are used to fund animal rescue and animal welfare initiatives nationwide every day of the year. We hope that you find a favorite blend and join us in providing a second chance for every pup one cup at a time! Together we can make a huge impact for rescue pups!
