Bark Like a Local: Old Town

October 04, 2019 2 min read

Welcome back to “Bark Like a Local”! In episode five, we traveled to one of the most popular cities in the country and while we didn’t take the infamous elevator ride up to the top floor of the Sears Tower, we did check out one of the best neighborhoods in Chicago – Old Town. Meet our tour guides, Christine and the adoptable pup, Fitz.

Today's hosts: Christine and Fitz

Hi there, I’m Christine! I have volunteered and rescues and shelters around Chicago for years until I decided I needed to do more to help pups find their forever homes, which is why I created Rescue in Style. With my love of mod, fun, casual styles, I was able to introduce a new audience to the world of adoption and make rescuing animals fashionable. Rescue in Style also serves as a platform to share relevant information on behavior, health, and all things rescue. I often partner with rescue organizations to shine a spotlight on the work they're doing to save animals as well.

Lincoln Park Community Park

Nothing quite says, “stop and smell the roses” like a trip to Lincoln Park’s Community Park. It’s one of the best spots to take your pup for a walk and to take in the beautiful scenery. If you’re looking for a new  trail to explore, this is the park for you!

Bombobar
Address: 1529 N. Wells St.

Next stop, Bombobar! Famous for the “bomboloni,” which is a hole-less Italian infused with various flavors. Each location offers the best of both worlds – sweet and savory. You’ll love this cozy sit-down location where pups are welcome (outside) where they can enjoy their own doggie doughnuts, woof-cream and dairy free gelato. If your friends or family visiting, we highly recommend a visit to Bombobar or if you’re looking to go on a doggie-date, this is the place for you.

Happy Camper

Address: 1209 N Wells St, Chicago, IL 60610

Pizza, Pizza, and more Pizza! Who doesn’t love a cold one with a slice? We stopped into Happy Camper with our buddy, Fitz, and had a blast. Nothing but good vibes and wait until you see the dining room full of trailers and trailers filled with twinkling stars. Duck out early from work or do a Friday night dinner – this friendly staff is waitin’ for ya.

Bentley’s Pet Stuff
Address: 1201 N. Wells St.Chicago, IL 60610

How many pet shops can say that have it all? From bones and doggie treats to the best calming aids for you pup, Bentley’s Pet Stuff is the Toys R Us of pet shops. One of the best ways, to treat your pup or show them how much you love them, is by feeding them all natural, nutrient rich food that promotes lifelong help and longevity. They live by the Golden Rule at Bentley’s – treat others how you wish to be treated and in this case, be the pet parent your pup deserves.

That wraps up episode five of Bark Like A Local. For more information on how you can adopt Fitz, feel free to visit K94keeps.org. He’d love to meet you. We’ll see you next time on Bark Like A Local.

This amazing group focuses on the "underdogs" of the rescue world.
