  • Coffee Chat: Why Pibbles Are One of the Most Lovable Dogs to Rescue

Pit Bull and Dalmatian with Coffee

There's no doubt about it – the pit bull, affectionately called Pibbles by owners and supporters, is one of the most misunderstood dog breeds on the planet today. Unlike their reputation, the pit bull is loving, affectionate, and loyal to those it loves.

However, if you still aren't sure about the pit bull, and if you should give it a chance, keep reading. Here you can learn some of the top reasons Pibbles are some of the most loved dogs and why they deserve every bit of that love!

    They Are Great with Kids

Pibbles are great with kids; however, early socialization is needed just like any other breed of dog. Be sure your Pibble is around children from a young age, which ensures they become  accustomed to tiny humans' whims and often erratic behavior.

What makes the Pit bull stand out, though, is that, unlike many other breeds, it is particularly fond of children, which has resulted in the nickname "Nanny Dog," which was first given in the 1900s.

In fact, it’s not uncommon to watch old TV shows or commercials and see children and Pit bulls together. One example is Pete the Pup from Little Rascals, who was, in fact, a Pit bull.

Pit bulls like nothing better than time with children. They are considered a reliable and trustworthy companion and will spend the entire day playing, cuddling, and just being around kids.

    They Are Eager to Please

Pit bulls will do virtually anything their favorite people request of them. And fast! All they want in return is a tiny  little bit of praise.

They are social with humans and develop a deep connection and devotion to those who care for them. Pibbles crave positive attention and approval from those they’ve bonded with.

Unfortunately, this eagerness to please is also why Pit bulls have gotten a bad reputation. People take advantage of this and train them for criminal or nefarious purposes.

    They Are Loyal

If you decide to adopt a Pit bull, you will have a lifelong friend. However, despite what you may think, Pit bulls don't make good guard dogs. This is because they truly love people – all people if they are socialized properly. While this is true, they still may act if someone or something threatens their "people."

    Their Smile

Pit bulls are a great companion, but they are also great for your mental health. For example, if you are having a bad or stressful day, just looking at your Pit bull’s big, goofy smile and lolling tongue is going to improve your mood instantly. There's no doubt about it; if you want to feel happy, all you have to do is see your Pit bull’s smile.

Are You Ready to Own a Pit bull?

As you can see from the information above, Pit bulls have a lot to offer. They are a true companion, loyal, love people, and great with children – what more could you want? If you are thinking about adopting a pup, make sure you consider the uber-friendly Pit bull.

Three Percent. That is the survival rate of a shelter dog in Puerto Rico. It’s a grim fate for a “Sato,” the name commonly used to refer to homeless dogs in Puerto Rico and astonishingly, there are estimated to be as many as 500,000 of these Sato pups.
