Five Steps to the Perfect Irish Coffee

Quick and easy, yet potent and delicious. Our Irish Coffee recipe brings together two of our favorite beverages to help kick off your celebration of St. Patrick’s Day! And if the local pub isn’t necessarily your venue of choice, we HIGHLY recommend enjoying your fresh brewed Irish Coffee on the couch accompanied by your four-legged best friend!

How to Brew

Five Step Irish Coffee Ingredients

  • 8 oz. Strongly brewed Grounds & Hounds coffee of your choice
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 1 1/2 oz. Irish Whiskey
  • 2 Tablespoons Cold, Heavy-Whipped Cream
  • Garnish with Nutmug or Cinnamon

Directions

This recipe will come together very quickly once your coffee is brewed, so we recommend having all ingredients handy, as well as your favorite mug, as you begin brewing.

Brew 8 oz. of your favorite Grounds & Hounds blend using the brewing method of your choice. After testing a few brewing options, we recommend using a French Press (if you have one handy) to brew a full-bodied Medium or Dark Roast blend, such as Alpha or Paper & Slippers, to help balance the additional ingredients.

After the coffee is brewed, pour into your favorite mug and leave room for the whiskey, sugar, and whipped cream.

While the coffee is piping hot, stir in 1 Tablespoon of brown sugar until dissolved. After the sugar dissolves, add 1 1/2 oz. of your favorite Irish Whiskey and continue stirring.

Now it’s time to top off your Irish coffee with 2 tablespoons of cold, heavy whipped cream and a dash of nutmeg or cinnamon. We have found that the key to maintaining the beautiful puff of whipped cream atop the surface of your coffee is to keep the cream refrigerated until the last possible moment (the colder the better)

Now your Irish Coffee is ready! So, recite your favorite toast, give your pup a belly rub, and enjoy!
