  • Last Chance to Support Beagle Freedom Project!

    February 22, 2021 2 min read 2 Comments

This is a quick reminder that there's still time to support our Rescue Roast partner this month, Beagle Freedom Project. Through the end of the month, 100% of the profits from Rescue Roast will go to this incredible group, to aid them in their fight against caged cruelty.

Entering this partnership, we had no idea about the scope of the problem. Nearly 67,000 dogs are used in animal testing each year, the vast majority of them being beagles. Beagles are used, we learned, because of their docile and forgiving disposition.

The mission of the Beagle Freedom Project is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home animals used in lab testing. That means beagles, of course, but their mission covers all animals. They've rescued all breeds of dog, as well as mice, rats, guinea pigs and pretty much every other living thing -- even alpacas and goldfish! Since their founding in December of 2010, the Beagle Freedom Project has rescued over 3,000 animals from testing and other unique cruelty situations.

The goals of this amazing group don't just stop at rescue, though. Advocacy is a big part of their mission. They actively work to attack the problem through legislation. Their signature bill, the Beagle Freedom Bill, forces laboratories to place animals with rescue groups, like the Beagle Freedom Project, after they finish their testing. It's just a start to ending caged cruelty, but it's been passed in 11 states and soon will be introduced federally.

We are so proud of our partnership with this amazing group. As of this blog post, purchases of Rescue Roast have raised over $6,000 to help BFP's mission. But there's still time to add to that number and make this one of our most impactful donations to date. If you want to help us try to get to our biggest donation to date, please pick up a bag of Rescue Roast before February 28th.
